The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) welcomes the conclusion of a general accord between Japan and Brunei on the plan to enter into an economic partnership agreement. In recognition of this achievement, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Government of Japan and to the esteemed organizations and individuals who were instrumental in the realization of this very important step forward.
JAMA is confident that the establishment of this bilateral partnership agreement will further promote trade, investment and other economic interests between Japan and Brunei in the automotive and other industrial sectors, as well as encourage even closer ties of friendship and goodwill between our two countries.
Economic partnership agreements are expected to have important and lasting significance for the future of the automobile industry. JAMA therefore very much hopes that this general agreement with Brunei, together with the EPAs established recently between Japan and other countries, will help generate momentum for the achievement of similar accords and the finalization of other partnership agreements currently under negotiation.
