JAMA Reacts to Upper-House Election Outcome
Reform and Growth Remain Urgent Priorities

Fujio Cho, Chairman

Japan’s Upper House election on July 29 was a severe rebuke to the government of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the ruling coalition.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association hopes that the message conveyed by the voters in this ballot will be genuinely taken to heart and that consequently, every possible effort will be made by the nation’s leaders to ensure political stability and further growth for the Japanese economy.

JAMA believes that the key to achieving such progress lies in advancing judicious reform and assiduously avoiding any risk of stagnation developing in Japan’s business activity or of the country falling behind in the critical arena of international competition.
