The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA, Chairman: Toshiyuki Shiga) is pleased to announce that "SMART MOBILITY CITY 2011" will be held as a themed project at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011 venue. The Tokyo Motor Show will run for 10 days from December 2 (Friday) to December 11 (Sunday), 2011 (open to the public from Saturday, December 3) at Tokyo Big Sight (Ariake, Koto-ku). A Steering Committee has been established to spearhead "SMART MOBILITY CITY 2011."
SMART MOBILITY CITY 2011 will showcase "next-generation automobiles and the social systems with which they interact" to highlight the roles and responsibilities of the automotive industry amidst growing concern over the global environment and resources.
The aim of "SMART MOBILITY CITY 2011" is to look at the big-picture implications of what the realization of Japan's "Next Generation Auto Strategy" will bring about and how the automobile will be changed in response to and contribute to such fields as smart communities from which low-carbon societies will emerge through solar power generation, regional energy control and so forth, as well as telematics, which will be improving automobile "safety" and "convenience." The exhibition is open to a broad range of industrial sectors and will also be an opportunity for participating companies to network and explore the potentials for developing new industries and markets.
Our goal is to share the "Society, Life and Dreams" brought by next-generation mobility not just with experts and corporate executives, but with the general public in Japan and other countries who visit the Tokyo Motor Show. The emphasis is therefore on exhibits that allow visitors to "see, understand, experience and enjoy" new technology. We are confident that coverage in the global media will highlight the advances that have been achieved by Japan's automotive and allied industries.
In addition to the JAMA Tokyo Motor Show Committee, the Steering Committee enjoys the participation of the Japan Auto Parts Industries Association (JAPIA) and the event's co-sponsors, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and Japan Smart Community Alliance (JSCA), and ITS Japan and Japan Automobile Research Institute.
There will be a corporate exhibition zone for presentations on advanced products, technologies, systems and services. We look forward to the participation of a large number of companies in a broad range of sectors, including energy, environment, housing, urban planning and telecommunications. An exhibitor orientation will be held on Monday, November 29.
