July 19, 2012
Tokyo, July 19, 2012—The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA), (Chairman: Akio Toyoda), has decided to hold an activities-packed, fun-filled “Odaiba Festival-Tokyo Motor Week 2012” from October 6 through October 14 this year at different venues in Tokyo’s Odaiba waterfront area, offering visitors a highly enjoyable, dream-like experience of passenger cars and motorcycles.
This event is being organized by the Odaiba Festival-Tokyo Motor Week 2012 Executive Committee, whose members include representatives from JAMA member companies (eight automakers and three motorcycle manufacturers) and the JAMA secretariat, as well as representatives from companies that operate commercial facilities in Odaiba and are also members of the Tokyo Waterfront Urban Development Committee.
Visitors to Odaiba Festival-Tokyo Motor Week 2012 will be captivated by the many different activities that will be held during the event, which are intended also to arouse interest and curiosity in motor vehicles ahead of the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show to be held in autumn 2013.
Some people are not interested in automobiles or motorcycles – and this event reaches out especially to those people. The event will be set up like a “school festival,” where there is fun in store for all ages. Competing manufactures, corporations and customers will all equally take part in making this festival a success. You will not need any detailed knowledge of automobiles and motorcycles, and even those who do not have a driving license are all welcome to join.
(Note: Weekends and holidays will feature a wider range of activities than weekdays.)
[Tentative:]
Also in the Odaiba area, “Motorsport Japan 2012,” a separate event hosted by the Japan Motorsport Promotion Organization (and one of the largest motor sports events in Japan), will be held on October 20-21. The Odaiba Festival will liaise with Motorsport Japan 2012 to ensure exciting weeks in Odaiba this fall.
Basic information on Odaiba Festival-Tokyo Motor Week 2012 is indicated below, with more detailed information to be announced in late September.
