The 43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013 will be held from Friday, November 22, 2013 through Sunday, December 1 (open to the public from Saturday, November 23). Like the previous 2011 show, all halls at Tokyo Big Sight will be used.
The comprehensive show will encompass passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, Carrozzeria, vehicle bodies, parts, machinery and tools, and vehicle-related services with the theme of “Compete! And shape a new future.”
All 14 manufacturers/15 brands of Japan and 18 brands from abroad (passenger and commercial vehicles) to exhibit
The Tokyo Motor Show returned to Tokyo in 2011 for the first time in 24 years. This was a great success, with the large increase of exhibitors drawing 842,600 visitors. All 14 companies and 15 brands of domestic passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and motorcycle manufacturers will exhibit in this year’s show again. In the passenger cars / commercial vehicles section, the overseas manufacturer Volvo will exhibit for the first time in six years. A total of 18 brands from abroad will participate, exceeding the previous show.
Before the Press Days (Wednesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 21), we are planning a media event for domestic and international press members with the participation of top executives of JAMA member companies. Details will be announced this summer.
With the Tokyo Motor Show at its core, the entire Odaiba area will be adorned with cars and motorcycles
The Tokyo Motor Show venue is located in the Odaiba area. This area will serve as a stage to create excitement starting right before the show and throughout. Visitors not only to the Tokyo Motor Show, but also to the Odaiba area, will enjoy coming in contact with cars and motorcycles, and we anticipate that many will become car and motorcycle fans. Details for this will also be announced this summer.
Further, we will collaborate with Rinkai Fukutoshin Machizukuri (Tokyo Waterfront Community Development) Council (Chair company Fuji Television Network, Inc. with the participation of 51 local companies and groups), which is a body that aims to promote the Rinkai Fukutoshin area. This initiative will generate excitement for the overall Odaiba area with events and vehicle exhibits at commercial facilities to further enhance the Odaiba experience for Tokyo Motor Show visitors.
As in the previous show, we will hold “SMART MOBILITY CITY 2013” and coordinate with CEATEC JAPAN 2013 and ITS World Congress Tokyo 2013 to appeal Japan’s vitality
The organizer-themed project “SMART MOBILITY CITY” that was newly launched in the previous show will be held again this year with the theme “KURUMA NETWORKING: Automobiles (KURUMA) connecting with people’s lives and society.” In this second installment, “Next Generation Automobiles and the Social Systems,” especially ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) will be presented with further depth and in a more comprehensible way with core exhibits by the organizer, as well as exhibits by various industries, test rides, and international symposiums.
We will also coordinate with CEATEC JAPAN 2013 and ITS World Congress Tokyo 2013 to be held this autumn to feature a line-up of cutting-edge technologies that will design safe, reassured, and green future lifestyles that will map a path for the world, thereby appealing the vitality of Japan. Specifically, our plans include joint PR campaigns for these three events and symposiums with shared themes.

New appeal added with a “Preview Night”
We plan to hold a “Preview Night” from 17:30 to 20:00 on Special Guest Day (Friday, November 22) for the first time. Admission will be limited to 10,000 visitors (tentative) so the Tokyo Motor Show can be enjoyed in an uncongested manner. This Preview Night is sure to add new appeal to the Tokyo Motor Show. The admission fee will be 3,000 yen (junior high school students and older require an admission ticket; elementary school students and younger accompanied by a guardian will be admitted for free), and specific date and method of ticket sale is scheduled to be announced on the Tokyo Motor Show official website in July.
