JAMA Inks Memorandum of Understanding with Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers
On September 12, 2014, Fumihiko Ike, Chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), participated in the Annual Convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in New Delhi, at the invitation of SIAM President Vikram Kirloskar. Dignitaries in attendance from the Indian side included Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Anant Geete. During that gathering, Mr Ike delivered an address on the cooperative relations between the automobile industries of India and Japan.
Following the convention’s conclusion, an official memorandum of understanding between SIAM and JAMA, aimed at strengthening the ties between them, was jointly signed by Chairman Ike and President Kirloskar. The cornerstone elements of the MOU are the continuation of the SIAM-JAMA cooperative dialogue and the anticipated further development of relations between the two organizations over the years to come.
For JAMA, the SIAM-JAMA MOU marks the first such cooperative agreement ever to be concluded with an overseas association of automobile manufacturers.
